Ageing Well

Where to get help

Ageing Well is a programme of services and activities for people living in Brighton & Hove aged 50 and over. They can give you information and advice about:

  • activities
  • events
  • making new friends
  • courses and training
  • volunteering opportunities

All Ageing Well services are inclusive of people living with dementia.

Ageing Well can also give you information and advice on managing your money, housing, legal issues and social care.

Al-Anon Family Groups

A national group that provides support to anyone whose life is, or has been, affected by someone elseÂ's drinking, regardless of whether that person is still drinking or not. They do not offer advice or counselling, but members give each other understanding, strength and hope.

A national charity for teenage relatives and friends of alcoholics. Alateen is part of Al-Anon. Alateen meetings are attended by 12-17 year olds. Meeting to share their experiences of having, or having had, a problem drinker in their lives . They help and support each other.

Albion in the Community

The local charitable arm of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club. They are working across Sussex to help make sport accessible for all, tackle inequality, improve health and education, and provide opportunities.

Alcohol Change UK

A national charity that is committed to reducing harm from alcohol-related problems. They help people understand the dangers of drinking too much, provide tips for cutting down alcohol consumption and campaign for varied and effective treatment services for the people who need it.Please note that we do not offer a helpline. Drinkline is the national alcohol helpline. If you're worried about your own or someone else's drinking, you can call this free helpline in complete confidence.

A small national charity that is committed to reducing harm from alcohol-related problems. They help people understand the dangers of drinking too much and to fight for varied and effective treatment services for the people who need it.

Alternatives

A safe, friendly, unbiased space to explore the options of a crisis pregnancy. If required, they offer ongoing support whatever choice is made. Their team of dedicated trained counsellors and psychotherapists also work with those suffering the loss of a pregnancy through miscarriage, termination, and still birth and to support those with issues around infertility.
