A local organisation that helps people learn to cook, to eat a healthy diet, to grow their own food and to waste less food. Advice around food poverty is also available on their website.
A local food bank serving local individuals and families who are experiencing financial crisis. You will require a referral from one of the 50 citywide agencies that they work with. Once referred, you will receive an appointment for your first food parcel and an initial assessment as to the severity of the crisis.
Depending on your income, benefits, and number of dependents, you will then receive a fixed amount of weekly food parcels for the consecutive weeks. In addition to this, home start up packs can be provided for those moving into new accommodation.

Serves hot soup and bread, tea and any other food that has been donated to anyone who needs it seven evenings a week on Brighton seafront locations.
The Brighton Unemployed Centre is run by volunteers. As part of their work, the volunteers cook a healthy vegan lunch every weekday, costing £1.50 for a large and 60p for a small portion. There is also a Tea Bar which is open from 10am till 4pm serving hot and cold drinks from 30p. Sometimes it is run by volunteers and sometimes it is self-service.
We are local service aiming to help anyone who is in urgent need of food. We offer both fresh food and grocery staples, toiletries, sanitary products and resources for young children like nappies. There are hot drinks available and usually some lunch. We are open 12-2 every Wednesday.
If you would like to access the Foodbank you will need a referral. This can be from someone you are already linked to for example a Health Visitor, Social Worker, Housing Officer or Advice agency. Alternatively you can ask staff at the Hangleton Community Centre or Staff from the Hangleton and Knoll Project who are based at St Richards Community Centre on the Knoll estate.

A local food bank for residents in Portslade and West Hove struggling to feed themselves or their family. Proof of post code is required in the form of a utility or council tax bill and applicants must have a referral from Social Services, the YMCA and other similar agencies. Every Friday from 12pm till 2pm.

A global, organic network of low cost cafes. They divert food destined for waste and use it to create delicious and healthy meals. There are three venues across Brighton serving wholesome 'pay as you feel' meals.
A local food bank providing three days' nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to people in Whitehawk and the wider East Brighton area who are referred to them in crisis.
If they feel you are struggling to put food on the table call or email the food bank and they will talk through your situation. They will put you in touch with a relevant local agency who can supply you with a foodbank voucher. You can then visit one of the local centres and exchange your foodbank voucher for a parcel of three days of emergency food.
