Description
3 to 6-month residential work experience placement where you'll get training in your chosen department and develop independent living skills in the evenings.
Departments available to work in include:
- catering
- estate maintenance
- metalwork
- building
- site carpentry
- painting and decorating
- horticulture
You'll be paid an educational tax-free bursary of £100 per week every Friday on the completion of a full week.
You'll be given your own bedroom for the duration of your time. We'll pick you up from Horsham train station on a Sunday evening and drop you back off at Horsham train station on a Friday evening.
We'll provide train tickets to get to your local train station and back again.
You'll be given breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.
Steel toe-capped boots are provided for you free of charge along with any other personal protective equipment needed for your work experience.
Functional skills lessons are given to all trainees on a one-to-one basis.
Evening seasonal trips are provided once a week, including activities such as:
- water sports
- paintballing
- go-karting
- visiting the cinema
These are all fully funded at no cost to you or anyone supporting your referral.
Qualification
Upon completion of the placement, you'll receive:
- Level 1 in-house certificate with a portfolio of skills and competency after 3 months
- Level 2 in-house certificate with a portfolio of skills and competency after 6 months
You'll work with someone every week to realise what your dreams and goals are and we'll help get you on the path to them.
We'll help you create a CV towards the end of your placement.
Eligibility
To be eligible you must be 16 to 20 years of age and from a disadvantaged background.
