The Access to Higher Education Diploma is a qualification which prepares people without traditional qualifications for study at university. Study on an Access course lasts one academic year and allows you to achieve the UCAS points you need to progress into Higher Education.
It is a good idea to check against the entry requirements for the degree you are hoping to study, to make sure that you choose the right Access to HE course. Some providers also offer a ‘pre access’ course, which will allow you to prepare for study at Access to HE level.
If you do not hold a Level 3 qualification and you are under 24, you do not have to pay fees for studying on an Access to Higher Education course.
There are other funding options if this does not apply to you. Find out about funding for adult education.
