The council’s response to the National Bus Strategy

The government published its National Bus Strategy, Bus Back Better, on 15 March 2021. The Bus Back Better strategy includes requirements for local transport authorities and bus operators.

These requirements include:

  • forming an Enhanced Partnership
  • producing a Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP)

The Bus Service Improvement Plan will make commitments to improve bus services. 

On 22 June 2021 councillors agreed we should start the process of forming an Enhanced Partnership. Read the full ETS Committee report.

We submitted a BSIP to the Department for Transport in October 2021. Read the Bus Service Improvement Plan.
