The Walking Festival is the perfect opportunity to explore or rediscover the city and its surroundings.
This two-week event offers free walks across the city for everyone, regardless of fitness and ability.
If you like historical tours, nature walks, creative or mindful experiences or you just want to start moving again, meet new people and get out and about, there’s something for you.

How to book
All walks need to be booked in advance, except for Healthwalks where you can just drop in.
You can book from Thursday 1 June 2023.

Our group walks will go ahead in most weather.
- comfortable sturdy footwear
- a raincoat or umbrella in case of rain
- appropriate layers of clothing and a coat or jacket
- a hat and sunscreen for hot weather

After the walk, you'll have the opportunity to participate in a short online survey. This feedback will help us secure more funding and encourage active, sustainable and inclusive travel for the future. You'll also be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win a £50 shopping voucher!
