How to request an EV chargepoint
If you are a resident and would like to request a chargepoint near your home or have an enquiry related to EV charging, you can contact us through our online form.
You'll need to:
- enter your personal details
- select 'Electric vehicle' from the drop-down list
- fill in the information fields
You can upload any relevant supporting documents.
We prioritise requests, in order to provide for people with the greatest need first. We take into account:
- your current status as an EV driver - we prioritise people who currently own EVs, or with evidence of one on order
- your proximity to existing chargers - we prioritise people without chargers on their street or nearby
- unique factors at the point of looking at requests
There are going to be requests that we cannot meet, or cannot meet within the required timescale. For example, if we are waiting for funding to consider further installations or the site is not viable.
Applications for disabled bays and electric vehicle chargepoints are separate requests and being granted a disabled bay does not mean an EV chargepoint will be immediately installed.
EV chargepoint requests will follow the prioritisation process so you may need to wait to get a chargepoint installed, if we can meet the request.
If you don't have a charge point nearby, we recommend looking at the locations of fast and rapid chargers.
If you cannot fill in the online form
If you are struggling to fill in the online form or accessing the internet, you can call 01273 291212 and leave us a voice message with:
- your name
- address
- contact details
- a brief description for the call
Responses using this route take longer than the online form. A member of the team will contact the resident no later than 5 working days from receiving the voice message.
The customer service centres in Hove Town Hall and Brighton Town Hall are also open 9am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday to support residents who are struggling with accessing the internet and completing online forms.
