Standard charge points (up to 7 kW) (lamppost charge points):  

  • weekday night: 39p/kWh
  • weekday: 59p/kWh
  • weekend: 54p/kWh

Believ tariffs

Standard plus (fast) charge points (8 to 49 kW):  

  • off-peak: 41p/kWh
  • peak: 53p/kWh

Rapid and ultra-rapid charge points (60 to 120 kW):

  • off-peak: 48p/kWh
  • peak: 58p/kWh

How our tariffs compare to the national average

As of August 2026, ZapMap have published the national average charging costs below. Read the ZapMap report.  

  • standard and standard plus charge points - 54p per kWh 
  • rapid charge points - 77p per kWh

Public charging costs more than charging at home, as the price covers more than just electricity.  

Factors include:

  • public charging incurs the full 20% VAT rate, whereas domestic electricity is subject to 0% VAT (as of 1 October 2026, rising back to 5% from 1 April 2027)
  • Charge Point Operators (CPOs) pay commercial electricity rates, which are often higher than residential rates
  • CPOs often cover the full cost (or majority) of the installation and have ongoing operational costs to factor in, such as maintenance and customer support centres, which do not apply to home charging

Numerous organisations and several automotive manufacturers and energy firms are actively campaigning for the removal or reduction of the 20% VAT on public EV charging.
