Cycle hangars

About cycle hangars
A cycle hangar is on-street parking for up to 6 bikes that residents can rent a space from. The hangars are covered, secure and accessible via a lock and key.
The cycle hangars are the size of approximately one parking space, and they can store 6 standard-sized bicycles.
Some car parking spaces may be repurposed to accommodate the cycle hangars.
Hangars are dark green with reflective strips on the sides for extra visibility.
The stands inside the hangar are equipped for you to lock your bike at 2 points. Brighton & Hove City Council cannot accept responsibility for bicycles stolen from the cycle hangars.
Please note these hangars are designed for standard-sized bikes. Some large mountain bikes, Dutch-style bikes or electric bikes may not fit the parking slots. Please check the photo of the inside of the hangar carefully, and don’t apply for a space if your bike may not fit. If you’re unsure, contact the Cycle Hangars Team with a photo of your bike.
Swapping spaces within the hangars or to a different hangar will not be possible after April 2026.
How much a space costs
From April 2026, the cost will remain at £72 per space per year.
