About the Youth Services Grant

There's a need to give Ukrainians aged 13 to 24 the opportunity to join in activities with other refugees and local young people.

The Homes for Ukraine government grant has funding to support this work of up to £10,000 per project.

The time frame for allocating the grant is between April 2024 and March 2025.

What we're looking for

We are looking for projects that:  

  • offer extra-curricular, fun, and creative activities to local young people, for example, sports and outdoor activities, group gaming, singing and music production
  • offer activities which promote social connections, wellbeing and a sense of belonging
  • take an intersectional approach, and consider people’s multiple identities
  • support community participation, decision making and engagement
  • have safe and inclusive community environments
  • offer signposting or refer to other relevant services

Who can apply

You can apply if your organisation is in Brighton & Hove and is one of the following:

  • company limited by guarantee  
  • registered charity  
  • Community Interest Company (CIC)  
  • Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)  
  • Community Benefit Society
  • constituted group or club  
  • statutory organisation  

What the funding covers

You can ask for funding to cover all or part of your project costs.

Capital costs like buying IT or heavy sports equipment will not be covered.

Safeguarding children

Because this grant is for projects that work with children under 18 years of age, you must:

  • undertake a risk assessment and consider child protection and safety
  • have or develop a child protection policy
  • have to take enhanced Disclosure and Baring Service (DBS) checks for any staff or volunteers working with the children
  • have or develop an equality and inclusion policy or statement
  • meet relevant health and safety requirements for your activity

How to apply

You need to complete the Youth Services Grant application form and the Youth Services Grant funding template.

You must include copies of the following supporting documents:

  • signed latest Annual Accounts or record of expenditure  
  • one bank statement from the last three months
  • signed Memorandum and Articles of Association or constitution or governing document  
  • explanation of your governance structure
  • your policies on:
    • equal opportunity
    • health and safety
    • safeguarding  
  • Public Liability Insurance  
  • complaints policy and procedure

Application deadline

You must apply by 5pm on 15 February 2024.

We will tell you if you're successful by 15 March 2024.
