How to access the service
We do not take self-referrals. Referrals to the service are made by pre-schools, schools and health visitors. An assessment is then undertaken in the pupil's mother tongue is then undertaken to assess the support they require. There are waiting lists to use our service but these are less than 6 weeks.
Communication, planning and decision-making with service users
Day-to-day feedback and service evaluations are our main forms of communication.
We use Makaton and have access to a bank of bilingual assistants and home school liaison officers to support English as an Additional Language users.
We support carers and parents by offering training in the use of The Triple P program (Positive Parenting Program), Family SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) and supporting family learning through community languages.
SEND staff training
All staff have training in SEN and issues around equality. Our staff have not had specific training around working with children with disabilities.
