What we are consulting on

Brighton & Hove City Council is consulting on admission arrangements for its community schools, which are also used by Moulsecoomb Primary School and City Academy, Whitehawk. These arrangements would take effect from September 2024.

The consultation opens on 14 November 2022 and the closing date for responses is 31 December 2022.

Respondents are asked to submit an online response using the councils consultation portal however if you are unable to submit a response through the portal, please send your views to .

If you need us to take down your response to the consultation because you cannot complete it yourself, please call 01273 293 653 and we will take down your response.

The first section is a new proposal that is likely to be of most interest. The remaining four sections have by law to feature in any consultation on admission arrangements. There are no proposed changes to these parts, but comments can still be made.

  1. Published admission numbers and the proposal to reduce the Published Admission Number of one junior and two infant schools
  2. The oversubscription priorities for community secondary schools
  3. The oversubscription priorities for community infant, junior and primary schools, Moulsecoomb Primary School and City Academy Whitehawk
  4. The ‘relevant area’ for consultation
  5. The co-ordinated admission schemes for 2024/25

The council will be holding a series of public meetings. These will be a combination of in-person meetings held at various schools and webinars using Microsoft Teams. How to use Microsoft Teams

To get the best from Microsoft Teams meetings:

  • test your equipment beforehand, things like your internet connection, microphone and camera
  • mute your microphone when you're not speaking, this cuts out background noise and improves the call quality for everyone
  • watch this short video to see how to join a meeting on Microsoft Teams

When the we get to the question and answer section please use the hands up function if you would like to ask a question.
You can also use the chat function (speech bubble) to ask questions while someone else is talking. These will be addressed when the speaker finishes.
