Outcome of admission arrangements for September 2026
A number of objections were raised about the council’s admission arrangements for September 2026 with the office of the School Adjudicator.
The Adjudicator has now made a determination (decision) about these objections and found that the council’s admission arrangements for 2026 comply with the admissions code and are considered reasonable.
The Adjudicator has dismissed all of the objections apart from those relating to the published admission number (PAN) for Dorothy Stringer and Blatchington Mill Schools.
The council had proposed to reduce the PAN for Dorothy Stringer School and Blatchington Mill School from 330 pupils to 300 pupils at each school. The Adjudicator has decided that this would frustrate parental preference and mean that some pupils who apply for these schools would be refused a place due to this change. The Adjudicator has therefore decided that the PAN for both schools should remain at 330 pupils each.
Full details of the detailed decision will be available on the Office of the Schools Adjudicator website.
