Update on communal bin collections
Read our update on communal bin collections.
Some communal waste collections are currently disrupted due to the need for essential repairs to specialist vehicles. Repairs are underway, and we expect to have them back on the road within the next week.
We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding while we complete repairs and return the service to full capacity.
Our communal waste collections rely on purpose‑built trucks, and bins cannot be lifted by any other vehicle. While repairs are underway, we're temporarily operating with 2 communal refuse vehicles to pick up collections from more than 1,000 bins across the city.
To help keep collection areas clear, the communal refuse vehicle is focusing on different parts of the city each day so waste does not build up in any one area.
Our Street Cleansing teams and refuse crews are also clearing side waste around communal bins.
Wider service performance
Despite this temporary disruption, the wider refuse and recycling service continues to perform well. Last week, 99.34% of scheduled collections were completed successfully.
