Waste we can't collect or accept at our recycling sites
We don't collect or accept fireworks, petrol, diesel, Japanese knotweed or Ragwort at our household waste recycling sites, also known as tips.
How to dispose of waste that's potentially harmful
Please make sure:
- petrol or diesel is taken to a local petrol station for reuse or disposal - check first they take it
- Japanese knotweed goes to a professional specialist, see the Environmental Agency’s page about Japanese knotweed for information on disposal
- ragwort is disposed of carefully or by a registered waste carrier, see the Environment Agency’s guidance on preventing harmful weeds and invasive non-native plants spreading
- large amounts of asbestos are disposed of by a registered waste carrier for asbestos - we can accept up to four sheets, or six small builder’s bags of plasterboard asbestos per month, per household
- fireworks are returned to where you bought them from - you can also soak them in water overnight and put them in your general rubbish
