Join a community composting scheme
Our community composting schemes give local residents composting points where they can compost fruit and vegetable waste.
Community composting
In a city where there's little space for people to compost, our community composting schemes - run with the Brighton & Hove Food Partnership - are of great benefit.
These schemes help more than 1,200 households compost and prevent more than 100 tonnes of food waste going into household bins each year.
Join or set up a scheme
Find out if you can join a scheme by checking the Brighton & Hove Food Partnership's community composting web pages.
If you want to set up a new scheme, send an email to info@bhfood.org.uk.
Your community group should have:
- a good place for a compost box, such as a local park
- at least 2 people who will look after the boxes and the compost - they will be compost monitors
- ideas for using the compost, for instance sharing it among residents
