About the roles

If you’re looking for a role making a difference to your local community which offers a competitive salary, flexible working and access to the local government pension scheme, our housing repairs and maintenance team could be for you.

The housing repairs and maintenance team is responsible for the upkeep and improvement of our 12,000-plus homes in the city.

We brought the service in-house last year. We’re now looking for enthusiastic people to join us to help improve residents’ homes and deliver our customer-focused services.

Over the next few months, we’ll be recruiting to a number of roles across all building trades, administrative posts and more.

We’ll be adding links to all roles to this page as they’re advertised.

If you share our values and are passionate about delivering quality services to our residents, we’d love to hear from you.

Why work for us

We are a large, friendly team spread across administrative, managerial and trade roles. Working from our base in Moulsecoomb, we currently carry out around 3,000 repairs and refurbish 60 empty properties every month.

We’re continuing to add to our council housing through new-builds and buy-backs, as part of our drive to increase the number of genuinely affordable, safe, accessible and energy-efficient homes in the city.

Brighton & Hove is a diverse, cosmopolitan and vibrant city, with deep-rooted shared values of tolerance, compassion and respect. As an employer, we want to see this diversity reflected in our workforce.

We believe employing a rich mix of people from a range of different backgrounds with fresh ideas and different perspectives is key to enabling us to continually improve our services to the diverse communities we serve.

What our organisational values mean to us

Collaboration – As a large team we all work together as one team to deliver the best service for our residents.

Efficiency – We work to tight deadlines and must consider how we can use our people and resources most effectively to ensure we meet the needs of our residents.

Respect – We create a fair and inclusive workplace and recognise the needs and values of both our colleagues and residents.

Customer focus – Bringing the service in-house gives us the opportunity to work towards customer service excellence and put it at the heart of everything we do.

Openness – We encourage individuals to communicate honestly and with integrity when dealing with both internal and external customers. We want to identify areas for improvement and proactively drive change where it's needed in the service.

Creativity –We often need to think fast and create solutions on site and in our planning and organisation.

Due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19, we’re reviewing how we deliver services across the organisation.

We’re looking into ways that office roles can be filled by a hybrid office and home working pattern.

We're constantly reviewing our risk assessments and requirements for PPE and safe working practices for working in the community or visiting people’s homes.
