The Queen’s Green Canopy is a national tree planting and preservation scheme. It invites everyone from across the United Kingdom to ‘Plant a Tree for the Jubilee’.
The scheme encourages individuals, groups, villages, cities, counties, schools and corporates to play their part. Planting trees during the official planting season between October to March will also enhance our environment.
The scheme also helps protect 70 ancient trees and woodlands that are a valuable part of the UK’s heritage and history. The remaining Preston Park Twin Elm has been chosen as part of a nationwide network of 70 Ancient Trees to be dedicated to The Queen in celebration of the Platinum Jubilee.
Every planting is being recorded on the Queen's Green Canopy digital map. Her Majesty will have the map presented to her at the end of the Jubilee year.
On behalf of our city, the Mayor of Brighton & Hove planted a tree in Stanmer Park on 11 March 2022.
