Validation of new Planning Applications

There is a continuing delay in processing new planning applications due to staff sickness and holidays. It is currently taking up to 7 working days to validate new applications.   

There remains a delay in processing new planning applications due to staff sickness and holidays. 

We've worked hard to reduce the backlog over the last month. We've already halved the number of applications awaiting validation.  

However, it is currently taking up to 7 working days to validate new applications.   

If you are currently waiting for a response from us, please be patient. 

To help us you can: 

  • wait until 10 working days have passed from the date of submission, before requesting a progress update 
  • ensure that you provide all supporting information with your application 
  • submit your application online
  • pay your planning application fees online, not by cheque

We expect that the validation service will return to usual response levels by the middle of July at the latest.
