Processing times for planning applications are longer than usual. We have reduced the backlog from 200 to 45 applications over the last few weeks. However this still means delays of about 1 week before we can start processing an application. We're doing our best to process applications as quickly as possible, and we appreciate your patience.
Neighbourhood planning step by step guide
Step 10: Referendum
If the plan passes the examination stage, the council will arrange a referendum so that the community can vote on whether a neighbourhood plan comes into force. If modifications were required to the plan the city council will liaise with the forum to ensure these are made and a final version of the plan is ready for relevant committees.
People living in the neighbourhood area, who are registered to vote, will be entitled to vote in the referendum. A simple majority (more than 50%) is required for the plan to be adopted.
The city council will publish the referendum results on the website and issue a news release.
