Environmental Impact Assessments

Read Screening or Scoping Opinions that we've issued for a development proposal.

What an Environmental Impact Assessment is

Environmental Impact Assessment Screening and Scoping Opinions are issued by the council under the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2017 (as amended).

A Screening Opinion states whether the council (or, if applicable, Secretary of State) considers that an Environmental Statement should be submitted for a future or current development proposal.

A Scoping Opinion states the extent of issues to be considered in the statement.

Where to access copies of Environmental Impact Assessments

After a screening or scoping opinion has been adopted it must be held on the public register for a period of 2 years.

You can find copies of screening and scoping opinions given from 2019 prior to the submission of a planning application in the table below.

To view a copy of opinions given before 2019, send an email to planning.applications@brighton-hove.gov.uk.
