A grace period of 21 days is in place for all parking permit holders. This means you can display your parking permit for 21 days after the expiry date printed on it. As long as you've submitted your renewal application and you're parked according to the conditions of your current parking permit, you will not receive a fine.
You must upload an image of your parking permit cut into 4 pieces if you want to:
cancel your permit and obtain a refund of the unused time
change the vehicle registration number on your permit
See the example below.
This is to prove the permit is no longer in use.
If you do not use MyAccount
If you don't have a MyAccount, you can download and use the refund request form below.
You will need to return both the:
physical original parking permit you're requesting a refund for; and
completed refund form
You can return them:
by post to Parking Customer Services, Hove Town Hall, Norton Road, Hove, BN3 7QP
by hand to the drop box situated in the Customer service centre at Hove Town Hall (Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 4:30pm)
online using our contact parking services form - you will need to upload your completed form and an image of your cut up permit (as shown in the above section)
If you made the original payment by card, we will attempt to issue the refund to the card you used. If we cannot do this, we will issue the refund to the bank account you specify on your refund form.
If you no longer have your parking permit
In most cases, we need to see your parking permit in order to approve a refund.
If you have lost your parking permit, we cannot approve your application for a refund or change of vehicle.
If you have sold your vehicle and left your parking permit in it, you should contact the buyer and retrieve the permit.
If you have scrapped your vehicle with your permit in it, we may accept your Certificate of Destruction issued by the DVLA.
