A council car park permit is issued for the following car parks:
- Marine Cliffs Rottingdean - 3 months
- Norton Road Hove - 12 months
- King Alfred Hove - 12 months
You must display your council car park permit in the windscreen of the vehicle.
If you need to make changes to your permit, for example, you change your vehicle, you must hand in your current permit and re-apply.
A permit does not guarantee the you any particular space in the car park or priority over other customers.
You must park within the marking of a designated space. The Council reserves the right to nominate specific bays for designated use.
The Council only provides a place to park in return for payment and cannot guarantee the security of your vehicle and it's contents.
The Council does not accept liability for any damage to or loss of vehicles or their contents which is the result of acts or omissions outside the reasonable control of the Council or its contractors.
The Council shall not be liable for any death, personal injury, loss, or damage sustained by any person entering a car park, unless caused by the negligence of or breach of statutory duty by the Council.
You agree to compensate the Council in respect of any claim made by a third party arising out of the negligence of the customer.
The Council reserves the right to refuse admission to any or all car parks.
Trailers, caravans, boats and vehicles whose height exceeds the entry restriction are not allowed in the car park.
If your vehicle is too high or too wide for the bays of the car park you should seek alternative parking options.
If a vehicle that is too high or wide causes damage to any council property, the council reserves the right to claim those damages back from you.
You should not tow any vehicle into the car park. No repairs, renovations, additions, or alterations can be carried out to a vehicle whilst it is parked in the car park.
You are not allowed to sell, hire, exhibit for sale or conduct any negotiations or dealings whether legal or illegal in the car park.
You are not allowed to engage in criminal activity in the car park.
CCTV and ANPR is in operation at this car park and recorded material may be used as evidence to support prosecution of those engaged in criminal activity.
The staff who operate this car park have the right to perform their daily duties free from verbal or physical abuse. Any incidents of this nature will be reported to the police and offenders will be prosecuted.
You should drive carefully and considerately and obey the staff, direction marking, signs and speed limits. After parking a vehicle, you and your passengers should use the pedestrian walkways and exits as applicable.
Vehicles parked in the car park shall abide by any other Terms and Conditions as published in the Car Park and must comply with the national laws and local bylaws where applicable.
If you do not comply with any of the above Terms and Conditions your vehicle details will be recorded and may lead to you and your vehicle losing their implied invitation to park in the future.
As part of the our policy to prevent fraud and misuse of permits, we can ask for proof documents at any time. This includes after we've issued the permit. If you don't give us the necessary information within 14 days we can cancel the permit.
If a permit is lost, stolen, destroyed, de-faced or mutilated, the permit holder must notify the Council’s parking service immediately. In these cases the permit is no longer valid.
We reserve the right to cancel a permit if you:
- don't pay for contraventions of parking regulations, this is known as being a persistent evader
- don't follow the terms and conditions
You can be classed as a persistent evader if:
- there are 3 or more recorded contraventions linked to the same vehicle within 5 years
- the penalties due for these contraventions have not been paid in full, have not been represented or have not been appealed against by the permit holder within the statutory time limits
- the representations and appeals for the permit holder have been rejected and they have still not paid the penalties due in full
A permit is issued subject to the relevant Traffic Regulation Orders which may be subject to change in the future.
Variation of terms and conditions
By applying for or purchasing any type of permit, the applicant:
- certifies that all the information that the applicant has given in the application process is correct
- accepts the Council’s terms and conditions as varied from time to time together with any terms and conditions stated on the letter to which the permit is attached at the time of issue
- agrees to be bound by and comply with the relevant Traffic Regulation Orders which may be varied from time to time
The Council reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions, application procedures and the relevant Traffic Regulation Orders at any time.
