Who can apply for a resident permit?
If you are residing in Brighton & Hove for more than 5 nights per week, you are considered a full-time resident and can apply for a resident parking permit.
You can apply for a resident parking permit through MyAccount.
How to apply
If you apply online, you will be asked to upload 1 proof of address dated within the last three months and your insurance document.
Please note that submitting an online application does not mean you have a valid permit.
Acceptable proofs of residency
You can use:
- gas, electricity, water, telephone/internet bills - confirmation letters from these companies that show you have signed up for these services are accepted
- tenancy agreements are accepted if fully signed by all parties
- doctor’s letters, dentist’s letters, central government letters, insurance certificate letters
- bank statements - usually the easiest to obtain, simply ask your bank to change your address and print out a statement for you, they can then date stamp it
Please note: The document needs to show your full name, your Brighton & Hove address and is dated within the last 3 months.
We can also accept your council tax bill for the current financial year (this does not need to be dated within 3 months).
The vehicle’s insurance documents need to show the applicant as the main driver or as a secondary (named) driver within the policy.
The insurance documents must show the vehicle as being kept overnight at the Brighton & Hove application address. We cannot proceed with your application if your vehicle is shown to be kept at a different address overnight.
If you cannot access the internet, we'll help you fill in the online form.
You may need to take extra steps after the phone call to complete your application, like providing proof of address or vehicle documents by post.
