Roads adopted by Brighton & Hove City Council
The council has a register of all the highways maintained at public expense as well as the private roads within the city.
You can download the details of our Highways Land Search Register listing private and public roads in the form of the Traffic Search Information document. You can also visit one of our customer service centres at Bartholomew House or Hove Town Hall for a copy.
Adopted roads within Brighton & Hove can also be viewed on our highways map.
For a list of all the proposed traffic schemes shown on the register under Question 3.6 download the TRO database.
Information displayed is being constantly updated and is correct to the best of our knowledge. It does not constitute a definitive statement as to the status of any particular highway. It provides information as to whether a road is adopted highway that's maintainable at public expense.
The motorway and trunk road network is the responsibility of the Highways Agency. All enquiries concerning proposed motorway or trunk road improvements and extents of highways should be directed to the Highway Agency.
Additional highway search fees
If you require additional information such as road widening schemes or require information and a plan showing the extent of publicly maintainable highway, the fee is £40 (including VAT).
The quickest way to pay is online on our website.
Please select Highway Searches and the address you are searching as your reference (we will automatically be notified of your payment), alternatively you can pay by cheque (payable to Brighton & Hove City Council).
All request emails should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
