Reducing parental conflict training

We offer two flexible training workshops:

Supporting Parents in Conflict

This workshop has been designed for professionals who come into contact with parents as part of the role, but do not often discuss parenting and relationship issues with them.  It is suitable for a wide range of professions including:  School staff, Early Years Providers, Police and Community Workers.

By the end of this workshop you will be able to:

  • Describe what parental conflict is and isn’t, as well as its impact on children and why it is important to offer parents support
  • Demonstrate increased confidence in starting conversations about relationship issues and signpost parents to further support
  • Apply knowledge of resources to help parents recognise their relationship difficulties and make changes themselves
  • Demonstrate confidence using strategies in handouts provided (Getting On Better cards & Relationship Essentials handbook)

This workshop can last between 1 and 2 hours.

Working with Parents in Conflict

This workshop has been designed for professionals who do direct work with parents and discuss parenting and relationships as part of their role.  It is suitable for a wide range of professions including: Social Workers, Housing Officers, Health Workers and Family Coaches.

By the end of this workshop you will be able to:

  • Describe what parental conflict is and isn’t, as well as its impact on children and why it is important to offer parents support
  • Apply knowledge of the local and national courses and resources available to parents in relationship difficulty
  • Confidently start and respond to conversations about relationship issues with parents
  • Demonstrate confidence in using a range of resources to use with parents to help them recognise and address relationship issues

This workshop can last between 2 and 3 hours.

Online E-learning for practitioners

These e-learning modules are available to any practitioner working with families in any capacity. Each module takes 45 minutes to complete.

  • module 1 – understanding parental conflict and its impact on child outcomes
  • module 2 – recognising and supporting parents in conflict
  • module 3 – working with parents in conflict
  • module 4 – parental Conflict: the role of supervisors and managers
