Applying for a neighbourhood area and forum
The legislation and regulation for neighbourhood planning can be found in the Localism Act 2011, The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 and The Neighbourhood Planning (General) (Amendment) Regulations 2015. If you are organising a neighbourhood forum or parish council then you should read these documents. This web page just highlights some of the important issues in the regulations.
How to apply
Neighbourhood areas and forums must be formally designated via applications to the local planning authority (Brighton & Hove City Council). A neighbourhood area can only be proposed by a relevant body which is either a Parish Council or, outside of a Parish, a body that is capable of being designated a neighbourhood forum. As a forum is to comprise of people from within a respective area a neighbourhood may wish to apply for both neighbourhood area and neighbourhood forum status at the same time.
