As the nights draw in and temperatures begin to drop, our winter gritting service is now ready to roll.

Remembrance events are being held across the city from Sunday 2 November until Tuesday 11 November.

Volunteers have planted wildflowers in Wish Park and Vale Park to create a network of bee and butterfly banks that are helping to restore rare chalk downland habitats.

The gym at Portslade Sports Centre is being transformed as an ambitious refurbishment project gets underway. Improvements include new flooring, sound systems and a wide range of new equipment.

A landmark new exhibition exploring Passion, Power & Protest has opened at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery. The exhibition marks the re-opening of the gallery which has been closed for 18 months while roof repairs were carried out.

Work is scheduled to begin from Monday 3 November on resurfacing 5 major city roads over the next 5 weeks.

The next phase of our weekly food waste collections is starting this week. The service began just over a month ago and has already collected 40 tonnes of food waste.

On Thursday 9 October, our fostering team hosted an inspiring event highlighting the different ways people can support children and young people in care in Brighton & Hove.

A new housing team has been set up to provide a timely and effective response to council tenants’ issues with mould and damp ahead of Awaab’s Law coming into force on 27 October.

With the clocks going back this weekend, we’re helping to promote safer roads this winter.
