Young people’s bus fare offers to continue into 2026
Families and young people across Brighton & Hove will continue to benefit from cheaper bus fares into 2026.
Funded by the city’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), travel for under 19s will remain free (up to four under 19s with a fare paying adult, excluding night services) while unaccompanied under 19s will still pay just 50p for a single off-peak journey.
The daily £6 citySAVER ticket will also be continuing to the end of the year for anyone buying them on the Brighton & Hove Buses mobile app, online keycard or at travel shops.
Using funding from the BSIP, we’ve been able to keep fares lower for our residents and visitors, limiting the impact of commercial increases and making journeys around the city more affordable.

Delivering for city families
Councillor Trevor Muten, Cabinet member for Transport and City Infrastructure, said: “Our Bus Service Improvement Plan is continuing to deliver for families in Brighton & Hove. I’m really pleased we’re able to keep bus travel cheaper for young people into 2026.
“We want to make bus travel as affordable as possible using what funds we have available to ensure people can travel quickly, easily and sustainably around the city.
“The BSIP has saved our residents and visitors almost £9 million in the last 3 years while also helping to deliver new express services, enhance existing routes and building better bus infrastructure.
“We have a fantastic bus network, and the BSIP will continue to make it better and cheaper to use.”
More about the Bus Service Improvement Plan
Developed in 2021, the Bus Service Improvement Plan aims to improve bus journey times, reliability, passenger growth and passenger satisfaction.
In December last year, the council was awarded just over £9 million by the Department for Transport to continue the delivery of our BSIP in 2025/26.
