Supporting Children’s Mental Health Week 2025
This week marks Children's Mental Health Week (3 to 9 February), a national initiative led by the children’s charity Place2Be, which aims to empower, equip and give a voice to all young people in the UK.
This year’s theme, Know Yourself, Grow Yourself, encourages children and young people to use self-awareness to understand themselves and their emotions.
This skill can help children build resilience, which can help them to manage whatever life throws at them.
There are a range of free resources available for Children’s Mental Health Week:
- resources for schools, including assembly slides, class activities, bonus Inside Out activities, and lots of top tips
- fundraising resources, including a fundraising guide, fundraising ideas, and bonus materials such as posters and bunting
- resources for families, including top tips for families and a creative activity from Place2Be's Art Room team.
Councillor Tristram Burden, Cabinet member for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Service Transformation, said: “Children’s Mental Health Week is an important reminder to encourage people of all ages to talk about their mental health.
“Poor mental health often impacts children’s attendance and attainment in school, so it’s crucial that we give our young people the tools they need to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives.
"Last year we launched a counselling pilot in secondary schools across the city to support pupils who have had difficulties accessing learning due to their mental health. This pilot is part of our ongoing commitment to children and young people in Brighton & Hove.
“I am delighted to announce that we will be maintaining funding for this trailblazing project over the next financial year.
“The pilot, which sits within the Schools Mental Health Service, will be monitored over the course of this academic year and the findings will help to inform how we offer emotional wellbeing support in schools in the future.”
