Hollingdean Parking Scheme results and next steps
Following a consultation with residents in Hollingdean earlier this year, we’re now ready to announce the next steps for a Residents’ Parking Scheme in the area.
In January we wrote to people in Hollingdean both north and south of the area known locally as ‘The Dip’, which consists of Hollingbury Crescent, Hollingbury Place and The Crossway.
We asked them for their views on our proposals for a Residents’ Parking Scheme in both areas. We received more than 1600 responses.
Those living south of The Dip responded strongly in favour of a scheme (73.7%) which will now be taken forward to a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) consultation
Those north of The Dip responded heavily against (71.7%), meaning this area won’t be included in a future scheme.
We’ll soon be advertising the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) for a scheme south of The Dip where residents and businesses can continue to give us their views. If approved, we would look to install a scheme by late 2025 or early 2026.
Listening council
Councillor Trevor Muten, Cabinet member for Transport and City Infrastructure, said: “I want to thank all those who took part in the consultation and shared their views with us.
“It’s incredibly important we gather and listen to the feedback of residents, especially for parking schemes where our decisions have such a direct impact on where people live.
“The results of the consultation are clear, with those south of The Dip in favour of introducing a Residents’ Parking Scheme and those north of The Dip against.
“As a listening Council, we’ll now work to introduce a scheme for the part of Hollingdean who are in favour. Once installed, we’ll continue to monitor parking in the area, review the scheme’s effectiveness and continue to listen carefully to the Hollingdean residents.”
