Candidates confirmed for the Westbourne & Poets’ Corner by-election
By-election will take place to elect new ward councillor for Westbourne & Poets’ Corner on Thursday 1 May 2025 between 7am and 10pm.
The by-election will fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Leslie Pumm.
The candidates for the by-election have now been confirmed:
- Gary Farmer – Reform UK
- Keith William Donald Jago
- David Maples – Independent Trade Union and Socialist Candidate
- Georgia Arabella McKinley Fitch – Independents for Direct Democracy
- Tony Meadows – Conservative Party
- Sam Parrott – Labour Party
- Geoff Shanks – Green Party
- Michael Wang – Liberal Democrats

Register to vote
If you live in Westbourne & Poets’ Corner and would like to vote in the upcoming by-election, you must be registered to vote by midnight on Friday 11 April.
If you’re not already registered, or if you’ve recently moved to a new address, please visit gov.uk/registertovote.
Register for a postal or proxy vote
If you can’t get to a polling station on the day, you can also apply for a postal or proxy vote.
You must apply for a postal vote by 5pm on Monday 14 April at the latest, but we recommended applying earlier so your postal vote can be sent to you sooner.
You can also ask someone you trust to vote on your behalf – this is known as a proxy vote. You should apply for a proxy vote by 5pm on Wednesday 23 April or change existing proxy arrangements by 5pm on Monday 14 April.
Don’t forget photo ID
If you vote at the polling station, you must bring photo identification (ID).

If you don’t have a valid form of photo ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate (VAC) online. The deadline for us to receive your VAC application for use at the May by-elections is 5pm on Wednesday 23 April.
