Register your interest for our winter Holiday Activities and Food programme
Our Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme returns this winter, offering an exciting range of sessions during the Christmas break.
The HAF programme is funded by the Department for Education to offer free holiday clubs for children and young people from Reception to Year 11 who receive benefits-related free school meals. Children attending these sessions also receive a free, nutritious meal.
The next HAF programme will start on Monday 23 December 2024 and end on Friday 3 January 2025. With over 1,700 HAF sessions available from 22 providers, there's something for everyone, including:
sports camps
playschemes
immersive Christmas experiences
art and drama activities
family cookery workshops
theatre trips
STEM activities
Several providers are also offering tickets specifically for children and young people who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) that receive free school meals.
You can visit our online HAF booking tool to see the programme and register interest for your preferred activity providers and sessions.
Winter HAF bookings will go live on Wednesday 6 November at 9am. Those who registered interest should receive an email reminding them to complete their booking request.
Eligible participants can book up to 4 HAF sessions over winter 2024, with one HAF booking per day.
Fun, free activities
Councillor Emma Daniel, Cabinet member for Children, Families and Youth Services, said: “I’m thrilled that our winter HAF programme has launched with over a thousand sessions available for children who receive benefits-related free school meals.
“HAF provides children and young people with fun, free activities that encourage them to try new things and meet new people while staying active during the school holidays.
"I'd encourage all parents and carers of children receiving free school meals to check out our exciting programme of HAF sessions available over the festive season and register your interest today before bookings go live in November.”
