Play your part in Dementia Action Week
This Dementia Action Week, running from 13 to 19 May, we’re encouraging everyone to take action to help improve the lives of people affected by dementia.
A number of events are taking place across the city to support people living with dementia and their loved ones, including a daytime cabaret and afternoon tea event, advice sessions and a free botanical watercolour workshop at One Garden.
Take a look at the full list of Brighton & Hove Dementia Action events.
There are more than 39,000 people aged 65 years and over living and shopping in our city, a number which is continuing to grow.
We want Brighton & Hove to be a great place for everyone to grow older and keep doing the things they enjoy.
Age and Dementia Friendly City
Councillor Tristram Burden, Chair of Adult Social Care and Public Health Sub-Committee, said: “Our ambition is for Brighton & Hove to be an Age and Dementia Friendly city - a place where everyone can live their best life, go to the theatre, eat at their favourite restaurant or travel on our buses, safe in the knowledge that their condition proves no barrier to participation in everything our city has to offer.
“Our Age and Dementia Friendly businesses register has been set up to signpost businesses towards becoming more accessible and inviting for older people and people living with dementia. And it’s expected this will improve the experience of all residents.
“Dementia Action Week is the perfect opportunity for businesses to explore what’s possible!”
Many actions businesses can take to be Age and Dementia Friendly are low or zero cost and businesses choose the actions appropriate to their business.
