Families across the city are set to have exciting new play equipment ready to enjoy in the summer holidays.
Throughout June and July, work will be carried out in 12 play areas as part of our playground refurbishment programme.
Most of the 12 sites will receive a full or partial refurbishment to make sure the playgrounds are providing accessible and enjoyable play spaces for children and young people.
Depending on the size of the play area, work will take between 2 and 4 weeks to complete. The play areas will be closed during the refurbishment, but the majority will be completed and open to use before the summer holidays.

These improvements are the completion of the first phase of the council’s playground refurbish programme to create inclusive play and learning opportunities for children and young people across the city.
Residents helped to shape the plans for the play areas through consultations and they were invited to see the designs in events over the half-term week.
