People across Brighton & Hove are being given the chance to have their say on how they pay for on-street parking.
A consultation is running until 1 December, so that we can gather views and information on paid parking in the city.
It comes after we reintroduced 12 new Pay & Display machines on a trial basis. This came as a result of feedback from residents and visitors on the decommissioning of machines in May 2023.
This trial period comes to an end on Saturday 23 November.
After that, we’ll assess data like the number of transactions, transaction type and user feedback before deciding on next steps. As well as this data, we also want to understand the needs of residents and visitors parking in the city.
All this information will help us to decide whether to keep or expand the network of machines and where the machines might be most needed.

Simpler and fairer parking
Councillor Trevor Muten, Cabinet member for Transport, Parking and Public Realm, said “We listened carefully to feedback about Pay & Display, which is why we reintroduced 12 new machines in August this year.
“We’re looking at how they’re being used and collecting as much information as possible before we decide on our next move.
“But we know that some people don’t like using apps, or would prefer to pay by card. Making parking simpler and fairer is the core of our Parking Plan, so it’s important we make it as easy as possible to pay for on-street parking.”
