The latest stage of our public toilet refurbishment programme will get underway next week with a revamp of the facilities at Goldstone Villas in Hove set to begin on Tuesday 16 July.
The much-needed upgrade will mean that, for the first time, they’ll be accessible to everyone.
The work will include raising the floor to ground level, introducing a Disabled Access Toilet facing out to Goldstone Villas and refurbishing both men’s and women’s toilets to include family rooms, baby change facilities, and cubicles with grab rails.
The work is expected to be finished at the end of September. The toilets will be out of use while the work is taking place. The nearest public toilets are:
- Hove Town Hall (6 min walk, open weekdays only between 9am and 4.30pm)
- King Alfred (12 min walk)
- Kings Esplanade (17 min walk)
- St Ann’s Well Gardens (22 min walk)
Councillor Tim Rowkins, Cabinet Member for Net Zero & Environmental Services said: “We have been working very hard over the last year or so to get our public toilets reopen and as many of them refurbished as possible.
"The Goldstone Villas toilets have needed an upgrade for a long time, so I’m really pleased to see this work starting.
“Increasing the accessibility of our toilet facilities is a big area of focus and, for the first time, these toilets will be open for anyone to use. All of our residents and visitors need to be able to use these essential public facilities.”
