We are delighted to announce that following a highly competitive recruitment process Genette Laws has been appointed to the new position of Corporate Director – Housing, Care and Wellbeing.
Genette will lead the new Housing, Care and Wellbeing directorate, bringing together housing services, adult services and public health to lead the way in delivering a healthy city where people thrive.
In the role, Genette will work with councillors, the Corporate Leadership Team, residents and partner organisations, including NHS Sussex, to deliver our Council Plan priorities and drive forward our vision of a better Brighton & Hove for all.
Genette joins Brighton & Hove City Council from Southwark Council, where she is Director of Integrated Commissioning.

Genette said: “I’m very excited to be joining the team at such a pivotal time. I was really interested to see the council’s joining up public health, housing, and social care which shows the council’s clear commitment to bringing together services that can make a difference to people’s lives.
“The council has a plan and vision for the city that is positive and wants to make a real difference. From homelessness to mental health, I’m looking forward to leading this diverse directorate to take on the challenges and opportunities ahead.
“I worked in Brighton & Hove earlier in my career and fell in love with the city which is diverse and exciting, and I can’t wait to join the team.
Genette will join the council in the autumn.
