Floral clock gets festive!
The famous Floral Clock at Palmeira Square in Hove will take on a festive new look this week with a Christmas tree, complete with twinkling lights.
On Friday 22 November members of Brunswick Town Association are inviting residents to join them for the annual lighting of the Floral Clock Christmas tree.
The tree, a 26ft premium sustainably grown Nordman Fir, has been provided by Christmas tree suppliers Good Elf.
Christmas songs
The event will start at 4pm at St John the Baptist Church, where children from Brunswick Primary School Choir will be singing Christmas songs.
The group will then move to Palmeira Square where Brighton & Hove Mayor, Councillor Mohammed Asaduzzaman, will start the countdown to switch on the Christmas tree lights.
Wonderful tradition
Councillor Alan Robins, Cabinet member for sports and recreation, said: “It’s wonderful that the lighting of the Floral Clock Christmas tree has become a tradition for Hove and its residents, kicking off the festive season.
“I’d encourage residents to brave the chilly weather, wrap up warm and join us for the celebrations on Friday.”
Following the switch-on, there will be a chance to climb aboard the festive Brighton & Hove Buses popular Santa Bus, which will be parked at the square from 4.30pm.
