Call for new development sites launched
As part of the City Plan 2041 consultation, we are giving people the opportunity to suggest areas of the city for potential future development.
Councillor Liz Loughran, chair of the Planning Committee, said: “We are a growing city, and we need to make sure there is enough land identified for new homes and workspaces, community facilities and tourism, and sites that can improve biodiversity.
“I hope that both residents and our local developer community will come forward with suggestions that could provide the basis for more new homes and facilities in future.”
The development of the former Astoria building in Gloucester Place into the Rox Brighton apartments, and the residential development at the former Dairy Crest site in the Droveway, Hove, are two examples of new homes being developed following previous calls for sites.
New suggestions can be made through the consultation website.
The call for sites is part of the City Plan 2041 consultation, which closes in January. You can read more about the consultation or watch videos about the challenges we face and give your views online through our Your Voice website.
