The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme is now accepting bookings for a variety of fun activities over the Easter holidays.
The HAF Easter programme provides free activities for school-aged children and young people in Reception to Year 11 in receipt of benefits-related free school meals. Children attending also receive a nutritious meal.
Bookings for Easter HAF are now live, and families can choose from 29 providers across the city, offering over 4,000 free HAF places at their clubs.
There's something for everyone, from sports, performing arts, coding, playschemes, and more.
Activities are planned between the dates of Tuesday 2 to Friday 5 April, and Monday 8 to Friday 12 April 2024.
Councillor Lucy Helliwell, co-chair of the Council's Children, Families & Schools committee, recognised the importance of HAF for many families, said:
"I'm delighted to see the launch of this year's Easter Holiday Activities and Food programme, which is 55% bigger than 2023!
“HAF helps address the added expense and stress of the school holidays for our lowest-income families. Most importantly, HAF provides children with fun activities that help them make new friends, enjoy being active, and be challenged to try new things.
"If you're a parent or carer of a child receiving free school meals, visit the online booking system to see the wide variety of the offer and request up to four Easter HAF places today."
