Councillors will be rolling up their sleeves, donning their high-vis jackets and getting stuck into litter picking this weekend.
The councillors will be taking part in a Big Clean Up event in and around Woodingdean Central Park on Saturday 23 March, from 10.30am to 2pm.
Joined by residents, volunteers and Cityclean staff, the councillors, will be litter picking the park, before edging the verges and pathways in the surrounding area.
Big Clean Up
The litter pick follows on from successful Big Clean Up events which took place last year and saw councillors across the city getting out and about to clean up their neighbourhoods.
The Woodingdean event also marks the annual national Great British Spring Clean campaign organised by Keep Britain Tidy.
Residents are welcome to join the Big Clean Up, or organise their own local Spring Clean event, and are being offered support and equipment from Cityclean.
Taking practical steps
Councillor Tim Rowkins, Chair of the City Environment, South Downs and The Sea Committee, said: “With Spring just around the corner, the council will be mobilising resources to continue cleaning up our neighbourhoods.
“Through our Big Clean Up events, we’ll continue to take practical steps to tackle litter, graffiti, and weeds and we’d be delighted to welcome any residents who would like to join us or organise their own events.”
