Our search for a new Chief Executive begins today, Thursday 14 September

We’ve launched our search to appoint a new and permanent Chief Executive.

This extremely important role is being advertised both internally and externally to ensure we find the very best person to lead the organisation and work with the new political leadership.

Our current Interim Chief Executive, Will Tuckley, took over from former chief executive Geoff Raw in May this year and will remain in post until a permanent appointment is made.

Attracting the very best candidates

The recruitment process is being carried out by executive search specialists Starfish who will use their expertise to help attract suitable and highly qualified candidates.

A detailed description of the role and information about the council and the city is available to read.

There is also a video introduction from Council Leader Bella Sankey, below.

'A city like no other'

In the short video Bella states:

"Brighton & Hove is a city like no other, and we're now looking for a transformational leader to help us deliver our plan for a better Brighton & Hove for all.

"This is truly one of the most exciting, dynamic and vibrant cities in the country.

"From our unique cultural heritage, our stunning coastline, our beautiful natural environment and our dynamic and enterprising local economy.

"Brighton and Hove has a huge amount to offer, but we also have complex challenges.

'Exceptional person with skills and experience'

"Our new chief executive will be an exceptional person, somebody with the experience, skills and personality to inspire staff across the organisation and to lead a programme of systemic transformative change.

"They'll be able to work with our partner agencies and our anchor institutions, as well as to develop a culture of positive industrial relations at the council.

"I truly believe that this role could be one of the most rewarding jobs in local government for the right person.

"I'm really looking forward to working with them, and so if you're still interested, please get in touch."
