Local elections 2023: Look out for poll cards

Local elections will take place across Brighton & Hove on Thursday 4 May 2023. Ahead of the elections, poll cards are starting to be sent out and will be delivered from Wednesday 22 March onward.

For those who have registered to vote recently, poll cards will be posted at the end of April. Please note that all poll cards will look different this year and will be arriving in envelopes.

If you’d like to vote in the upcoming local elections and have not yet registered, you can do so until midnight on Monday 17 April by visiting gov.uk/register-to-vote

Voter ID

You'll need to show photo identification in polling stations to vote in elections from May 2023. This means that you must bring photo ID with you to vote in the upcoming local elections.

For more information, including on the types of photo ID which are considered valid for this purpose, please visit our voter ID webpage

If you don’t have a valid form of photo ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate (VAC).  The deadline to apply for a VAC for use at the local elections is 5pm on Tuesday 25 April, but you should apply sooner in case we need to check any details with you.

You can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate online or email electors@brighton-hove.gov.uk to be sent a paper application form.
