Council leader to hold surgeries to meet with residents across the city

Councillor Bella Sankey, Leader of Brighton & Hove City Council, is organising a series of 'leader’s surgeries' across the city, giving residents the opportunity to raise any concerns and share their ideas with her directly.

The first surgery will take place at the Brighton Centre in Regency Ward in the afternoon on Friday 11 August.

A better Brighton & Hove for all

Last month, councillors agreed a bold new vision for a 'better Brighton & Hove for all' in their new Council Plan for 2023 to 2027. The plan was approved at a Full Council meeting on Thursday 20 July.

The plan outlines 4 key outcomes:

  1. A city to be proud of
  2. A fair and inclusive city
  3. A heathy city where people thrive
  4. A responsive council with well-run services

The leader’s surgeries will support outcome 4 by listening to the needs of residents and communities and responding to their feedback.

Responding to residents' needs

Councillor Sankey said: “I’m delighted to be launching the first in a series of regular leader’s surgeries at the heart of the city in Regency Ward.

“I want to ensure residents can share their ideas for a better Brighton & Hove for all by meeting with people face-to-face in their communities.

“Through these surgeries, the council can better understand and respond to residents’ and communities’ needs and concerns.”

All slots for Friday’s surgery are now filled. For more information regarding future surgeries, please email mable.kan@brighton-hove.gov.uk.
