A new campaign has been launched to help Brighton & Hove businesses work towards a circular economy by reducing waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use for longer, and regenerating and protecting natural resources.
The Brighton & Hove Loop campaign was established to allow local business owners who have implemented circular economy principles to share their learnings, achievements and challenges, and to inspire other business owners on their journey to circular and sustainable business practices.
A selection of businesses from Brighton Chamber’s Net Zero Champions Scheme have shared their zero waste and environmentally regenerative ways of working.
The businesses featured include a refill store, a designer fighting fast fashion, a compost business with a plan for nutrient-rich neighbourhoods and a former teacher transforming local plastic waste into high-end interiors.

Councillor Alan Robins, Chair of the Culture, Heritage, Sport, Tourism, and Economic Committee said: “Brighton & Hove is home to a multitude of small and independent businesses which are the lifeblood of our local economy.
“But small business owners can find the task of shifting to more sustainable or circular business practices challenging or overwhelming. The Brighton & Hove Loop campaign aims to help make this process more supportive and straightforward.
“By creating opportunities for business owners to connect and learn from one other, we can better support our local economy while reducing waste, keeping products and materials in use for longer and protecting natural resources.”
Brighton & Hove Loop is supported by a coalition of organisations bringing together business networks, environmental organisations, and the council. These include:
To support the Brighton & Hove Loop campaign, an event is being planned with Brighton Chamber later this summer.
