The Brighton & Hove Big Clean Up weekend!
We’re planning a ‘Big Clean Up’ weekend across the city on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July!
Councillors across Brighton & Hove will be out in their wards tackling notorious ‘grot spots’ and cleaning up their neighbourhoods.
The events include litter-picking, weeding, painting over graffiti, cleaning street signage and some will include a combination of activities!
The areas and tasks have been chosen by councillors with some input from their residents and guidance from our Cityclean team.
We’ll be finalising Big Clean Up plans over the next few weeks – watch this space!

Our Cityclean team are providing equipment and arranging pick-ups of the rubbish and weeds collected in addition to our usual weekend cleaning operations.
We’ll also be putting out the call to the city’s brilliant Tidy Up Team and Weed Warrior volunteers to get involved and support our Big Clean Up events.

Help us keep our beautiful city clean
Councillor Tim Rowkins, Chair of the City Environment, South Downs and The Sea Committee, said: “We’re excited to get out and clean up our streets across Brighton & Hove in July. Residents want to see action and we intend to do our bit.
“We will be tackling litter, graffiti, and weeds and we want to hear from residents about where they want us to focus our attention.
“We’re keen to roll up our sleeves, don the high-vis and clean the city up as we go into the summer season. And of course, if anybody wants to come and help out, we’d love to see you!
“The Big Clean Up is coming at a time when our city is at its busiest. We hope residents and visitors to our beautiful city will help us keep our beaches, parks and open spaces litter free this summer.
“Always dispose of your litter in one of our many bins, and if it’s full, use the next bin or take your litter home with you.
“Keep an eye on your ward councillor’s social media channels for more details on the Big Clean Up as our plans come together.”
