Excitement is building in Brighton & Hove and across Sussex as the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 tournament gets closer.
Young football players from Davison CE High School for Girls in Worthing recently gathered at Brighton & Hove Community Stadium, to celebrate the top 16 European nations whose teams will compete for the coveted trophy.

In just over 50 days’ time on 6 July, the tournament kicks off at Old Trafford and, on 11 July, the city will host the first of its three games when England’s Lionesses will face Norway at Brighton & Hove Community Stadium.
This game had previously sold out but, due to returns, tickets are now available for this match along with the other games, Norway vs Austria (15 July) and a quarter final (20 July).
But fans will need to be quick, as tickets are sure to be snapped up when they go back on sale from 10am today (12 May.) Get yours now!
Prestigious tournament
Councillor Martin Osborne, co-chair of the council’s Tourism, Equalities, Communities and Culture committee said: “It’s great news that tickets are now available for all three of our matches, giving fans a once in a lifetime chance to take part in one of the city’s greatest ever sporting events.
“We are proud to be hosting this prestigious tournament, welcoming fans from Norway and Austria, and we look forward to the opportunities it will bring for our residents and visitors.”
Watched by millions
Hundreds of thousands of fans are expected to attend UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 and millions more will watch the globally televised event.
Brighton & Hove was selected as one of nine host cities for the tournament following a bid by Brighton & Hove City Council, Brighton & Hove Albion FC and the Sussex County FA.
The bid included an ambitious legacy programme to encourage more women and girls of all ages and abilities to participate in football.
Showcase fixtures
Polly Bancroft, General Manager of Brighton & Hove Albion Women said: “We’re really excited to be hosting three showcase fixtures. We’re looking forward to welcoming fans to the stadium and hope that fans continue to watch our team in the Women’s Super League after the tournament has finished.”

Roadshow arriving soon
The city will also welcome the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 National Roadshow which arrives on Hove Promenade on 25 June, from 11am to 5pm.
The free Roadshow will offer visitors to Brighton & Hove an introduction to football, a chance to learn new football skills and tricks, as well as try matchday presenting and interviewing in a special TV studio.
Featuring live music from local artists and a showpiece football pitch, alongside the opportunity to get a picture with the trophy itself, each event will provide a variety of fun for all the family.
