Brighton & Hove residents looking to freshen up their lives, careers and job prospects this spring are invited to an adult education open day this Monday 7 March.
Whether it’s a career change, new skills or support with wellbeing, the event will give you the chance to explore the courses and support on offer at the city’s new hub.
The Open Day takes place at the Brighton & Hove Adult Education Hub in the Tarner Centre, Ivory Place, Brighton, BN2 9QE, from 10am - 1pm and in the evening from 4pm - 7pm.
Get help making the right choice
Friendly tutors will be on hand at the event to advise on the right choices for you, while careers advisors will be available to help you identify and reach your goals.
Most of the courses and workshops at the council-run hub are free to those who are unemployed or on an income less than £17,004.
Among the opportunities on offer are employment training for local sectors, including health and social care, which offer job interviews with employers.
Course areas covered include:
• IT for beginners
• English, Maths and ESOL
• Personal development & wellbeing
• Digital skills – from Excel to Google analytics
• Employment training pathways
• Business start-up
• Everyday skills for adults with learning disabilities
Courses open to residents 19 and over
The hub opened in September 2021 and offers a great range of courses and workshops to residents aged 19 or over.
As well as the face-to-face courses on offer, there are online classes via Zoom, as well as flexible courses you can do in your own time.
350 people helped already
Councillor Hannah Clare, chair of the council’s Children, Young People & Skills committee, said: “We’re excited to be hosting this first open day at the city’s Adult Education Hub.
