New candidates announced for Brighton & Hove Mayor and Deputy Mayor 

Councillor Lizzie Deane and Councillor Jackie O’Quinn have been confirmed as the councillors being put forward as the city’s Mayor and Deputy Mayor for 2022-23. 
 
The 54 councillors on Brighton & Hove City Council will vote on the Mayoralty positions on Thursday 26 May at the council’s Annual Meeting. 
 
Councillor Lizzie Deane is a Green Party councillor representing the St Peter's & North Laine ward. Councillor Jackie O’Quinn is a Labour Party councillor representing the Goldsmid ward. 
 
As well as voting for Mayor and Deputy Mayor at the Annual Meeting, councillors will also vote on who will be sitting on the council’s policy committees, regulatory committees and on committees or boards of organisations outside of the council that have council involvement and oversight. 
 
This year’s Annual Meeting starts at 4.30pm and takes place at Brighton Town Hall.   
 
Attendance at the meeting is limited to support social distancing arrangements.  The 54 current councillors are invited to attend physically as too are a small number of guests of the Mayoral candidate.   
 
Six members of the public can attend in person and should contact the council’s Democratic Services on democratic.services@brighton-hove.gov.uk or 01273 292086 to request to attend. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. 
 
The meeting will be webcast so people will be able to view via the council’s website.
